Does a transverse lobe piercing go through cartilage?

No. A transverse lobe piercing passes horizontally through the soft fatty tissue of the earlobe, not through cartilage. That said, the channel it creates is far longer than a standard lobe piercing, so it heals more slowly and needs a longer barbell fitted for swelling at first.

How long does a transverse lobe piercing take to heal?

Longer than a standard lobe. Because the fistula runs the length of the lobe rather than straight through it, a transverse lobe commonly takes several months to fully heal rather than the six to eight weeks a basic lobe needs. A saline routine and a downsizing visit support the process.

Can any earlobe take a transverse lobe piercing?

Not every lobe. The placement depends on lobe size, thickness, and whether the lobe is attached or detached, since the bar needs enough fatty tissue to sit in without going shallow. A free consultation at the Cooksville studio confirms whether a transverse lobe suits the individual ear.
