Choosing the best moving company in Englewood, FL, can be a daunting task (especially if you've never done it before). Moving Services Englewood FL . But don't worry, with a little guidance, you can avoid common pitfalls and make your move as smooth as possible! Here's some advice to help you find the right movers for your needs.

First off, don't just pick the first moving company you come across. It's essential to do a bit of research. Ask around-friends, family, and colleagues might have recommendations. Affordable Packing Services Englewood FL They might've had experiences that can give you an insight into which companies to consider (or not). Additionally, browsing online reviews can provide a wealth of information. But be wary, not all reviews are genuine; some might be exaggerated or even fake.

Next, make sure the company is properly licensed and insured. You wouldn't want to trust your precious belongings to a company that isn't! A legitimate moving company should provide you with their Department of Transportation number. Without insurance, you could end up paying for damages out of your own pocket, and that's not something anyone wants.

When you narrow down your options, get estimates from at least three different companies. Don't fall for the cheapest one right away-it might not be the best deal in the long run. A low estimate could mean the company is cutting corners, which might result in problems later on. Instead, look at what each company offers, and see which one provides the best value for your money.

Also, pay attention to the company's customer service. If they're not willing to answer your questions or seem annoyed when you ask for clarification, it might be a red flag. Insured Movers Englewood FL A good moving company will be transparent about their services and fees. They should be willing to go over the contract with you and explain any terms you're unsure about.

Timing is another crucial factor. Packing Services Englewood FL Not all companies are available at all times, especially during peak moving seasons (like summer). Plan your move well in advance and book your moving company as soon as you can. This way, you won't be left scrambling at the last minute.

And here's a little tip: ask about any hidden costs! Some companies might charge extra for things like moving heavy items, stairs, or long carries. You don't wanna be surprised with additional fees when you're settling your bill.

Lastly, trust your instincts. If something doesn't feel right about a company, it's okay to walk away. There's no shortage of moving companies, and it's worth taking the time to find one that feels right for you.

In conclusion, choosing a moving company in Englewood, FL, doesn't have to be overly stressful. By doing your research, getting estimates, and trusting your gut, you can find a reliable mover who'll help make your transition as seamless as possible. Happy moving!

A moving company, also known as a removalist or van line, is a company that specializes in assisting individuals and businesses with relocating their goods from one location to another. Moving companies may offer additional or all-inclusive services for relocations, like packing, loading, moving, unloading, unpacking, and arranging of items to be shifted. Additional services may include cleaning services for houses, offices or warehousing facilities.

Overview

[edit]

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, in 2007, 40 million United States citizens had moved annually over the previous decade.[1] Of these movers, 84.5% relocated within their own state, 12.5% moved to another state, and 2.3% moved to another country.[2]

The U.S. Department of Defense is the largest household goods shipper in the world with the Personal Property Program accounting for 20% of all moves.[3]

A 2020 OnePoll survey showed that 64% of participants consider their recent move to be one of the most stressful events they have ever encountered.[4]

Pricing and services

[edit]

United States and Canada

[edit]

In the U.S. and Canada, the cost for long-distance moves is generally determined by several factors:

  • Weight of the items to be moved
  • Distance between the original and new location
  • Speed of the move
  • Timing of the move, including the specific time of year or month

Some movers also offer consolidated shipping, which reduces costs by transporting several clients' items in the same shipment.

United Kingdom and Australia

[edit]

In the United Kingdom and Australia, the price is based on the volume of the items rather than their weight.[5] Some movers may offer flat rate pricing.

DIY moving

[edit]

The use of truck rental services, or simply borrowing similar hardware, is referred to as DIY moving. Individuals or families may rent a truck or trailer large enough to transport their household goods. They may also acquire moving equipment such as dollies, furniture pads, and cargo belts to facilitate the move and protect their belongings.

Packing and materials

[edit]

The moving process also involves finding or buying materials such as boxes, paper, tape, and bubble wrap with which to pack boxable and/or protect fragile household goods and to consolidate the carrying and stacking on moving day. Self-service moving companies offer another viable option: the person moving buys space on one or more trailers or shipping containers. These containers are then driven by professionals to the new location.

Englewood is a census-designated place (CDP) in Charlotte and Sarasota counties in the U.S. state of Florida. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 20,800, up from 14,863 at the 2010 census. It is part of the North Port-Bradenton-Sarasota, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area.

History

[edit]

Archeological digs in what is now Englewood discovered ceramics belonging to both the Weeden Island culture and Safety Harbor culture.[4][5]

One of the earliest white settlers in the area was William Goff, who arrived by schooner from Tampa in 1878.[6] He settled a piece of land a few miles south of where Englewood would be platted. On July 3, 1895, a post office was established in the area as well. The Great Freeze of 1894 and 1895, along with a bad freeze in 1896, led to the decimation of many local orange plants. For this reason, by 1897, a Manatee County General Directory listed fish as the chief product for Englewood.[7]

The original plat of Englewood was recorded and filed on August 17, 1896.[7] The home lots were 1-acre (0.40 ha), and the grove lots—likely intended for citrus—were 10 acres (4.0 ha). The area was developed by three brothers, and the name Englewood came from their hometown, Englewood, Chicago.[6] Some streets, such as Dearborn, Harvard, and Yale, are named after those in Chicago.

In 1898, the Englewood Inn was opened, a relatively large hotel with 16 rooms. The hotel serviced visitors from up north until it burned down in 1909.[6][8]

Both Sarasota and Charlotte Counties were created in 1921.[9][10] Englewood was initially more on the Sarasota side of the modern county line; as it expanded, it came to be more equally in both counties.

In 2024, heavy rainfall from Hurricane Helene followed less than two weeks later by storm surge from Hurricane Milton caused extensive damage to Englewood. A number of houses were flooded during Helene and then destroyed during Milton.[11][12]

Professional movers are often expensive due to several factors. Movers bring experience, specialized equipment, and insurance to the job. They also provide extra help like planning and coordinating details of your office relocation. Moving companies often save you stress and time which makes their fees worthwhile. Jan 5, 2024

You'll typically find that Penske is slightly more expensive than U-Haul. This is because the company maintains a higher quality of trucks. U-Haul adjusts its cost based on the distance of your move and the time required for your move.
