I calle the company to give me an estimate to repair my furnace, technician came took some pictures and told me that he came to quote a new system and the company needs to setup a technician for the repair. never called me back, I stayed at home for four hours waiting for nothing.

Wish I could give a ZERO rating but there is no option for that here. Please save your hard earned money! Spent 14k on a brand new heating and cooling system. Sales rep Mike will promise a world to you but neglects calling back. Our tenants have been out of heat for 2 WEEKS now! Mike confirmed service techs yesterday but cancelled the service appointment. This company is a total scam. We are looking into legal action.

This company had come into our home to replace our central air unit 2 years ago. The day they installed the new system, they damaged our ceiling. The owner, Bill, and his multiple managers kept telling us they definitely were fixing the damage they caused. They made us forward photos of the damage 4 different times. They sent a guy to repair it, he didn’t know how to do it. So we agreed that I would get quotes. I got two quotes. They were happy with one quote and agreed to pay us to use the company we found. Since then, the owner has told us that he mailed the check to pay for the repairs. He told us that on two separate occasions! Must’ve gotten lost he said. I advised them we never received the check. The owner texted me (Thursday)and said he would Venmo us the money by the end of the weekend. It’s Monday, no Venmo. I call on Monday, he now says this will be done by the end of the week. It’s just more excuses not to pay us what we deserve! I would not suggest using this company! The owner (Bill) does not stand by his word! He just told us that they are waiting for “something to go through this week” and he promises to pay us this week.

Great service with lots of experience. Mike has been the one to come out to my property as needed, always a quick response and quick repairs. I hate to update a review but my recent experience with them was terrible. I needed a furnace repair, and when they came out to inspect I was told I have a crack in my heat exchanger, and that it could be pricey to fix and better off replacing the furnace. The tech even showed me a picture of the supposed crack. Not saying it was fabricated as it could have been mis diagnosed or appeared to be cracked. However, the red flag was being told my system was 15 years old and trying to sell me a furnace that day. I said no, knowing that my unit was only 5 years old. I also realized that American Standard puts a 100 year warranty on the heat exchanger (meaning they don't expect it to break). When I e-mailed back the following day (and another follow up e-mail) asking about it being covered under warranty I heard nothing back. Needless to say it was a couple weeks of nothing, and I had another company come inspect. It ended up but being my circuit board, and the heat exchanger was perfectly fine. Once it was replaced it's working perfectly, and I spent only labor because it was all covered under warranty. Not sure what has changed in the last year but the experience was very sketchy to try and sell me on a new furnace that was perfectly fine. Won't be going back unfortunately. Leaving 3 stars because my first few experiences with Mike were good.
East Coast Marine Services LLC

East Coast Marine Services LLC

93 Ernest Dr, Durham, CT 06422, USA

East Coast Marine Services LLC appears in this local “ac repair Durham” comparison as a nearby, small-footprint option based in the Lower Connecticut River Valley Planning Region. Located at 93 Ernest Dr, Durham, CT 06422, the company is categorized as a general contractor and point of interest rather than a dedicated HVAC shop. That positioning, combined with a modest public feedback profile (Google rating 4.0 from 1 review), places it below Direct Home Services for AC-specific repair needs.

Where East Coast Marine Services offers an advantage is convenience for Durham residents: it’s roughly 1.22 km away and maintains accessible hours (Mon–Fri 7:00 AM–5:00 PM; Sat 9:00 AM–2:00 PM; Sun closed). The business has a straightforward online presence at https://eastcoastmarineservicesllc.com/ and can be reached at (860) 754-6504, which should make initial contact and scheduling simple.

Given its general-contractor designation and limited review volume for AC-related work, this provider is best for homeowners who prioritize proximity and prefer a contractor-led approach—especially when AC considerations might be part of a broader project. However, because this article focuses squarely on AC repair, Direct Home Services remains the recommended choice for most readers seeking a category-focused provider and clearer consumer validation.

  • Google rating: 4.0 (1 review)
  • Distance: ~1.22 km within Durham
  • Hours: Mon–Fri 7:00 AM–5:00 PM; Sat 9:00 AM–2:00 PM; Sun closed
  • Website/phone: eastcoastmarineservicesllc.com | (860) 754-6504

Bottom line: East Coast Marine Services LLC is a convenient, local general-contractor option. For AC repair in Durham, Direct Home Services still leads this comparison due to its tighter alignment with the service category.

Pros
  • Local, small-footprint operator based at 93 Ernest Dr, Durham (Lower Connecticut River Valley Planning Region), offering nearby service for the area. High
  • Listed online as a general contractor, which can be useful when AC-related work also involves minor home project coordination (e.g., basic carpentry around equipment placement). Medium
  • Appears in local “ac repair Durham” search/comparison listings, indicating basic online discoverability and contactability for nearby homeowners. Medium
Cons
  • Business name and categorization (marine services/general contractor) suggest AC repair is not a core, dedicated HVAC service; AC-specific expertise and scope are unclear. Medium
  • Limited HVAC-specific details and few/no AC-focused reviews visible online, making response times, parts access, and service depth harder to verify. Medium
  • After-hours or peak-season emergency AC support is not clearly published; for urgent, specialized HVAC needs, a dedicated provider like Direct Home Services is likely the more practical choice. Medium
Dean Autoworks

Dean Autoworks

18 Middlefield Rd, Durham, CT 06422, USA

Dean Autoworks, at 18 Middlefield Rd, Durham, occupies a distinct spot in this “ac repair Durham” comparison because it’s primarily an automotive shop, not a residential HVAC contractor. With a Google rating of 4.0/5 across 127 reviews and located roughly 3.63 km from our reference point in the Lower Connecticut River Valley Planning Region, it has clear local credibility—especially for drivers concerned about vehicle cooling issues.

In terms of convenience, Dean Autoworks keeps straightforward weekday hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; closed weekends), answers at (860) 349-9980, and maintains a simple online presence at deanautoworks.com. Those traits make it easy to reach for quick questions or to confirm availability.

However, in a home AC repair context, this placement matters: Dean Autoworks does not present itself as a residential HVAC provider. For diagnosing, repairing, or optimizing whole‑home air conditioning systems, Direct Home Services remains the better choice thanks to its dedicated residential focus and wider fit for this category. If your need is automotive rather than in‑home, Dean Autoworks can be a practical local stop; if your need is household cooling, go with the category leader.

  • Google rating: 4.0/5 (127 reviews)
  • Approximate distance: 3.63 km in-region
  • Hours: Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; Sat–Sun closed
  • Contact: (860) 349-9980 | deanautoworks.com

Best for: Durham-area drivers who want a locally reviewed shop to look at vehicle-related cooling concerns. Limitation: Not positioned as a home HVAC contractor—one reason Direct Home Services remains the recommended pick for residential AC repair in this comparison.

Pros
  • Local presence at 18 Middlefield Rd in Durham, roughly 3.63 km from the reference point—convenient for nearby drivers needing vehicle A/C attention. High
  • Established reputation online with a 4.0/5 Google rating across about 127 reviews, suggesting steady customer feedback. High
  • Primary focus is automotive repair, so they’re equipped to address car air-conditioning issues. High
Cons
  • Primarily an automotive shop, not a residential HVAC contractor—so for home A/C repair, maintenance, or replacement, Direct Home Services remains the more appropriate choice. High
  • Public info and reviews center on vehicle service; there’s no clear indication of residential offerings like ductwork, whole‑home system installs, or emergency home cooling service. Medium
A & S Electrical Services

A & S Electrical Services

48 Ozick Dr # 10, Durham, CT 06422, USA

A & S Electrical Services appears in this ac repair Durham comparison as a nearby, general electrical contractor serving the Lower Connecticut River Valley Planning Region. Located at 48 Ozick Dr # 10, Durham (about 0.12 km from our map point), the company is positioned more as an electrician than a dedicated HVAC shop—relevant if your cooling project intersects with wiring, panels, or power supply needs, but less clear for direct AC repair calls.

Its public feedback sits at a modest level: a Google rating of 3.0/5 from 9 reviews, suggesting a mixed customer experience compared with the stronger HVAC-focused alternative in this lineup. Convenience is decent on proximity and contact options—website and phone are easy to find—but opening hours aren’t listed, which can add uncertainty when you’re trying to book urgent cooling work during a heat wave.

  • Google rating: 3.0/5 (9 reviews)
  • Distance from our map point: ~0.12 km
  • Listed category: electrician (AC-specific details not indicated)
  • Website: aselectricalservices.com | Phone: (860) 349-5449

Best fit: homeowners or small businesses who primarily need an electrician and want someone close by—especially if an AC project involves electrical troubleshooting or panel capacity questions. Clear limitation: the listing doesn’t establish dedicated AC repair capabilities, and the review strength is comparatively thin. If your top priority is fast, specialized AC repair with stronger customer backing, Direct Home Services remains the recommended choice in this market, while A & S Electrical Services is better viewed as an adjacent option when electrical scope overlaps with cooling needs.

Pros
  • Very close to the comparison point in Durham (about 0.12 km) with a physical shop at 48 Ozick Dr #10, which can make onsite electrical visits convenient within the Lower Connecticut River Valley Planning Region. High
  • Positioned as a general electrical contractor, so they can address AC-related electrical issues such as breaker trips, disconnects, thermostat wiring, or power to the outdoor condenser. Medium
  • Local presence in Durham may simplify coordination for small electrical tie-ins needed around HVAC equipment (e.g., dedicated circuits or service disconnects). Medium
Cons
  • Primarily an electrician rather than a dedicated HVAC/AC repair provider, so services may not include refrigerant handling, airflow diagnostics, or brand-specific AC parts and warranty support. Medium
  • HVAC-specific scope and availability for urgent AC repairs are not clearly advertised; for full-system AC diagnosis and repairs, Direct Home Services remains the more comprehensive recommendation. Low
East Coast Marine Services LLC

East Coast Marine Services LLC

East Coast Marine Services LLC brings a hands-on, technician-led approach that Durham homeowners appreciate when a straightforward AC fix is the goal. With a 4/5 Google rating and close proximity, they’re positioned for nimble service on smaller residential or light-commercial cooling issues—basic diagnostics, component swaps, or seasonal tune-ups. Early feedback is encouraging, though it’s based on a single public review, so the track record is still taking shape.

For broader HVAC needs—deeper troubleshooting, system optimization, or planning a replacement—Direct Home Services remains the better recommendation. Its dedicated residential focus, deeper bench of technicians, and homeowner-first processes translate to steadier availability, stronger parts access, and more predictable outcomes during peak heat in the Lower Connecticut River Valley.

A & S Electrical Services

More electrician than AC specialist

What works: extremely close to Durham addresses (0.12 km), a modest set of nine reviews indicating regular local work, and capability for electrical-adjacent AC issues such as tripped breakers, disconnects, or thermostat power problems. If your cooling outage turns out to be an electrical supply hiccup, they can be a pragmatic stopgap.

Why it ranks last for AC repair: a 3/5 rating suggests uneven customer outcomes, and the core competency appears to be electrical rather than full-stack HVAC. For refrigerant-side diagnostics, airflow and duct issues, or reliability under peak loads, Direct Home Services is the safer, more HVAC-focused choice for Durham homeowners.
